As I understand there is liberal encouragement given to all Mechanicks who wish to become Settlers at the Cape of Good Hope. Not having any Knowledge how to become a settler by any other means I have made Application to the Secretary of State of the Colonial Department hoping for their information – I am a Working Cutter by profession having served 7 years in the City of London. I have a Wife and one Child = Ages my Wifes 23 mine 23 Childs 7 months
