To the Secretary of State for the Home Department

A number of famileys in this Neighbourhood wishing to avail themselves of the opportunity of emigrating to His Majesty’s Colony of the Cape of Good Hope are desirous of such information as will enable them to know whether it will be in their favour to undertake the important voyage. I mean particularly what sum of money will be required per head as a deposit – as that I think did not apear in the circular published by His Majesty’s Government. I am awair this is addressed to the wrong office but not knowing how to direct to the other I beg you will put it in such a chanil as will satisfye the situation(?)

I am my Lord your Lordship’s most obedient humble servant

Jack BARDSLEY
