My Lord,
A young man (a labourer named John HAYWARD) his wife and three children on the eve of emigration to the United States of America, seeing the offer made by the Government in the House of Commons to promote emigration to the Cape of Good Hope, wishes for information thereon as to what sum of money will be required to deposit & on what terms he can be conveyed to the Cape and at what time he can be embarked, as waiting at a port for his passage will be attended with to much expence for him, and every other information your Lordship will be pleased to give him on the subject will be very greatfully received for the above applicant.
