July 27th 1819

Sir,

Having heard that government intends sending some settlers to the Cape of Good Hope in order to form a colony there I therefore make application to you in order to know from you the means I am to use in order to obtain a conveyance for myself and wife and two children under six years old, as I am now out of employment. I am about thirty years old and of good bodily health and reside at No. 4 Vine Alley Vineyard, Tooley Street, Borough and am a labourer.

I am Sir yours

Charles CRAWLEY
