My Lord,

Your Lordship I hope will pardon the liberty I take of troubling you with this letter but having heard that Government encourages emigration to the Cape of Good Hope and I thought your Lordship would be kind enough to furnish me with the particulars if it is so for I am in extreme distress with my family and should be happy to proceed hither if possible after begging your Lorships forgiveness for troubling you I beg leave to subscribe myself Your Lordships very humble servt.

Wm. HALES

Your Lordship will please to address
