My dear Sir,

I enclose you a letter I have received from Messrs BROWN  & [?HOBBS/HILLS?].

You will perceive what a [?mess?] the poor fellows have got into. Pray is there any chance of an opening for them? I shall have to answer for [?HOBBS’/HILLS’?] death, as I fear the poor [devil] will make away with himself unless you allow him to go to the Cape.

I am my dear Sir

Yours faithfully

Wm. HOLMES
