Sir,
We the undersigned inhabitants of Canterbury through the falling off of trade we are not able to maintain our families by our industry therefore we have a desire to emmigrate to the Cape of Good Hope if you will be so kind as to give every information respecting it, so as to enable us to judge of the matter.

Sir,
From the request of the parties wishing to emigrate to Africa I take this oportunity of solisiting of you the perticulars concerning the emigration to Algoa Bay, wether each person so emigrating will be intitled to 100 acres each or head of a family on their landing in the Colony: as their are many reports about that the person taking them out is only intitled to it.

Sir,
As the time draws nigh for the emigration to the Cape of good hope I shall feel much obliged to you if you will let me no [know] when and where the deposit is to be made or wether the parties are at liberty to deposit each their own monies as there are 10 persons here that wishes me to take their names down to deposit their own money, and if you are in possession of were we shall embark I shall be obliged to you.
