Sir,

Having read with attention the pamphlet entitled a Guide to the Cape and being seriously inclined (in conjunction with some friends) to become settlers at the Colony, I take the liberty of requesting the favor of your answer to the following question as I understand it is to you all communications on the subject are to be addressed. Whether the Government will receive proposals from a company of persons who shall (thro the medium of one whom they may select from among themselves as director) pay down the required sum. It may be as well to state that each of persons they proposed will possess a small capital

I am Sir

Your most obedient servant

Wm. LUCAS
