Sir,

            Having it in contemplation to settle at the Cape of Good Hope & calling at my Lord BATHURST’s office for information, particularly as to the local situation of [the] proposed new town, I was directed to apply by letter. I shall feel particularly obliged Sir if you will favour me with the name of that part of the coast where the new settlement is intended with its latitude & longitude also if any particular & what encouragement if any is held out to officers who have served in a Military Capacity.
