Oct 26 1819

Right Honourable,

as I am inform by Captin TUCKFIELD of his RN that you are the only gentleman that I can apply to for to have the proper account of going to the Cape of good hope tharefore I should take it as a great favour from your honour if you gave me a proper account how we have to get our victuals before we came thare and afterwards how we will to get materials to build with and [to] cultivate the land and likewise the tools and if we find everything to answer thare are 12 or 14 that are going with

me but I understand that after we came thare wee shall be as soldiers but if that be the case wee shall not think of going,

So no more [obscured]

humble and obt.

Thomas SOUTHCOTT
