Notes: They lived all their lives in the Albany district. Judy Farley was a very respected woman by all who knew her. She retained her memory despite her advanced age, and she often related to her grandchildren and others her early experides of savages were robbing farmers and others of their stock. She was an eye-witness of their home being burnt down in 1850 when the family had to flee to the laager at Cuylerville and of the defeat of thousands of Xhosas by 16 bravn. After the enemy fled, there were about 100 of them lying dead and only one defender slightly wounded. From her Obituary we read:- "Mrs Farley's beautiful life was made up of dispensing many blessings to others". To the whole family she was known as 'Aunty Judy'. She was buried at Cuylerville with her parents.
