John is stated as Head of the Household, Retired farmer. Sarah as wife; Louis John as Clerk in Stock Brokers. The last four on the list in the house were boarders; Back unemployed, Deaf and Dumb; Schmason and Peterson as Clerk merchants, and Wrother as Clerk unemployed. . Sarah Elizabeth was not listed at this household, her details were found through IGI searches, as well as corrections to middle names and dates of christenings.

Born 1809 in Capel St Mary Suffolk.

In the 1851 census John is with his first wife Elizabeth, and his occupation is listed as a farmer of 100 acres employing 6 men and 2 boys. In the same house he has a lodger William Edwin Back who was deaf and dumb from birth, a 24 year old female domestic servant, and an 18 year old lad as an Agricultural labourer, who could be one fo the 'boys' or men he employed. I suspect that this was at Church farm.

In 1861 he was farming on Church farm. Now with his second wife Sarah and their 2 eldest children. the son John from his first marriage could now have been a 25 year old and had left the home.

In 1871 he was now farming at Argent manor farm, on 200 acres employing 8 men. They had 2 domestic servants in the household, so reasonably wealthy. He still had William Edwin Back, deaf and dumb from birth, in their care.

By 1881 they had retired from farming in Suffolk and moved to 82 Finsbury Park road, Hornsey, Edmonton district in London.

Interesting re William Edwin Back, inthat he was just a few years younger than John, but he had lived with John and his families for about 40 years! I speculate and wonder if he was a relation? John could obviously communicate with him.
