...Harry, born in 1872, was a brilliant athlete and held the SA mile record
of four minutes and 33 seconds for five years. He also played wing for Eastern
Province rugby team and was a good all-round sportsman. He had served
with the forces in theAnglo-Boer War and he and his beautiful wife
Daisy had six children, five daughters and a son, Louis junior.
When Harry died in 1931 before his mother Libby, Louis junior should have
inherited Daggaboer but there remained a small bond on the farm and on
account of the depression 1930-34, Louis was unable to raise enough
money to liquidate the bond. Rennie Trollip of Allandale, Middelburg, bought it for
under 3 pounds per morgen to keep it in the family and leased it to Ted
trollip, son of Walter Trollip. Ted bought Daggaboer in 1941.
