St Mark's Cathedral, George, Western Cape, South Africa

Notes:
St Mark’s Cathedral is a beautiful stone building, situated on the corner of Cathedral and York Street in George. It was designed by Sophie Gray, wife of the first Bishop of Cape Town, and dates back to the year 1849 when the corner stone was laid.

The church was consecrated by Bishop Gray on 7th December 1850. The stained glass windows above St Mark are of 17th Flemish origin. They must be some of the oldest stained glass in the country. Visitors could take a guided tour of the Cathedral.
