How to submit Settler Farm Outline Map Info

The settler farm outline maps you see on the previous pages are based on some digital maps that I have of South Africa, published sometime between 1995 and 2005. The BIG advantage of those maps is that they show me the Latitude and Longitude of wherever my mouse is on that map, ie giving me a 'map-point', and that they show most farm boundaries.

I can then take a 'chain' of those map-points in a clockwise direction along the boundaries of a farm, and put them into a script or programme in their sequence, and the script will then draw the outline in red over a google map. I also need a map-point that is roughly in the centre of the farm, so google knows whereabouts in the world it is.

As an example, here is the outline on my maps of Radway Green, where I have marked the boundary line with A B C D S F G H I and an X in the middle, all in handdrawn blue letters.

I would now hover my mouse over all those points and make a note of the coordinates. ie for A they would be -33.338881, 26.654281; D would be -33.345160, 26.673522, E at -33.391784, 26.657767, etc. and save all those points into the script/programme, do a few cosmetic tidy ups, and basically, job done! Then, I link it all into the website menu so it can be viewed.

Now, I know you do not have my maps, BUT, you can get the same map-points from google maps itself! If you open up maps.google.co.za, navigrate or scroll to your farm or other known place. Move your mouse to be over a point of interest, ie a boundary point. Right Click with the mouse and then Click 'What's Here' from the pop-up menu. It will then display a grey drop point where the mouse was, and the map-point Longitude and Latitude in the box ay the bottom. Those are the numbers I need to build the maps.

To submit a request for a farm map, send me an email to paul@1820settlers.com with Map request and farm name in the subject, and then in the body of the email:

I will then try and plot your map for you!

Hope that all makes sense
