    15 January 1821: Thomas Field requested permission to move to Cape Town to seek employment in his calling as a coach driver.
    23 May 1821 : Surgeon Daniel O'Flinn certified that Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Field, was suffering from acute rheumatism due to exposure to cold and rain, through lack of proper shelter. Her husband begged for permission to move to Cape Town.
    30 June 1821: Thomas Field was at Bathurst awaiting permission to move to Cape Town.
    17 September 1821 : Thomas Field and his invalid wife, Elizabeth, had now been waiting 3 months at Bathurst for leave to go to Cape Town.
