Her date of birth and death have been taken from these records. It is interesting to note that her status at death was given as "widow". Does this perhaps indicate that her and Oliver never divorced?

John Engelbrecht Sep 2014 - My grandmother Jesse lived with us for years in Pretoria, and I can vouch for the fact that she did not remarry. She lived out her last days at her son Gerald's Prospect Trading store and died sometime in 1976 - I will try and get the date.
According to Mike Thompsons "Transkei Traders", he traded at "Prospect", Mquanduli, in 1948 and his son Clive continued to trade there until moving to East London.

Jesse married Oliver Rupert Webb about 1912. Oliver (son of Oliver Percival (Percy) Webb and Mary Jane Levey) was born on 14 Feb 1879 in Alice, Eastern Cape, South Africa; died on 8 Apr 1944 in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Oliver and Jesse seperated in 1929 - Jesse and Rupert’s marriage regrettably broke up, and after leaving her husband Rupert in Mqanduli, during 1929, Jesse moved back to Tsomo where she was taken in by Alfred. This led to an extended family, with grandmother Minnie, daughter Jesse with her child Eileen, daughter Mabel with her sons Errol and Beres all living under the same roof, being financially supported by Alfred.
