    He was in the Roal Navy based in Portsmouth on the ship Phoebe. He married 3 times.
    Aged 38 when emigrated from Parish of Wellington, Somerset,(with the help of the Parish) in Southey's Party of 1820 Settlers. He was accompanied by his wife Mary 30, and four children Jane 10, Humphrey 6, Isaiah 2 & Arabella months.(a fifth probably died during the voyage) and his 18yr daughter Eliza from previous marriage. Stated he was a husbandman and naval pensioner! Lost - supposed to be drowned. Left two locations in Southeys Party, district of Bathurst. Death Notice signed by daughter Arabella Elliott and filed 3 November 1858. All children - Jane, Humphrey, Isaiah, Arabella, James, MaryAnne, John & Elizabeth were over 21 at father's death....
    {PaulTT - something is not quite right with his Death Notice. Date of death 1829. It states that all the children were majors. If that statement is correct, then ALL the children would have to have been born before 1809, which is obviously impossible. If Arabella made the statement when she filled out the form in 1858, yes they would have all been majors in 1858}
