    Conrad was 79 years old when he died living at Francis Street, Grahamstown. He was buried from Christ Church, Grahamstown.

    Conrad married Wilhelmina (Whillemina) Hermann on Yes, date unknown. Wilhelmina was born in Feb 1826 in Wiesbaden, Germany; died on 11 Feb 1904 in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa; was buried on 12 Feb 1904 in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Died:


    When she died at home (last known residential address was in a cottage owned by Mrs O'Hara, Francis street, Grahamstown) she was 75 years and nine months. Her Grand daughter, Rose Evans, signed her Death Notice No. 1062, in Grahamstown on 24th February, 1904.

    Buried:

    Wilhelmina was 78 years when she died. It is interesting to note that this record appears in a Cathedral Register, the ceremony was in fact performed by Rev. M Norton of Christ Church.

    Information received from Becky Horne, Port Elizabeth :

    ZIMMERMAN, Johann Conrad (1823), aged 38, wife Catherine, aged 33 with 5 children, from Nassau, Kesselbach, settled in King Williams Town (One source) or Hamburg (Eastern Cape) (Another source)

    They departed from Hamburg aboard the 'WANDRAHM', 564 tons, on 13 August 1858, arrived East London on 6th December 1858. Aboard were 74 families, comprising 344 people of who 264 were adults. Ten children and one adult died on the voyage. Ship's Captain H Decker, Ships Doctor, Fr. August Hanf.
