    Grantsville, Utah, Aug 7th 1934
    Dear Sir,
The Negro boy.. .brought to Utah by Henry Talbot once lived with my father, Edward Hunter, who took him to Grantsville from Kaysville.
I...never knew him. But my mother often told me of him. His name was Gobo Fango, but he was called Gobo,... He herded sheep for my father, and was one of the best herders he ever had. He was off a cheerful disposition, quite generous with what he had.
He moved up into the Oakley, Idaho, country, and was killed bv a cattleman by the name of Bedky, in a sheepmen and cattlemen's quarrel over the range.
As I remember the incident from my mother, there had been some trouble between the sheepmen and cattlemen over the range rights, Gobo was herding sheep at the time, but I do not know for whom. He was
peaceable and did not want any trouble. One day two cattlemen rode up to him and talked in a friendly manner. And finally Mr. Bedky said, "Well Gobo, let's not have any more trouble, but shake hands and be friends,"
Gobo carried a rifle . When he went to shake hands, the man grabbed it and shot him twice in the head and as neither bullet penetrated, he finally shot him once in the body. They left him for dead, but he managed to reach the settlement, where he told of the affair.
He had accumulated some property, but I do not know just what it was. He lived long enough to make a will , and left #500 to the Relief Society of Grantsville, but I do not know whether he had more than that or not. The
man who shot him pled "self-defense" and was acquitted.
If you wish...more, write to my sister, Eèuisa H. Hale, ...Salt Lake City.
Aa she...lived in Oakley at an early date, she may...tell you a lot....
    Yours truly*
    (Signed) J . Austin Hunter
