He was well in his 90s when he "still kept himself busy in his garden and doing his own work". I met Uncle Albert and Aunty Ida at the time that their son, Harold, was busy with the first Whittal book. (Vernon Whittal) He used to correspond with my late Dad, Bert Whittal, and after his Dad he still wrote to my Mom. What a great pity those letters were not kept for the information they contained. He was a man of sterling character and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
