DIED – AT “Aloe Grove,” Dist. Of Queenstown, 4th of April, 1873, at the residence of his son-in-law, (Mr. Elijah WIGGEL) – Francis Parot BENTLEY, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, and 18 days. He was one of the British Settlers of 1820. Friends at a distance will please accept this notice.

"In the baptism of his children he is listed as either a manufacturer or a merchant of Southowram or Halifax, but in his burial he is listed as a farmer and in his will he is listed as a gentleman. In the will of the uncle of his first wife (Joseph Hinchcliffe in 1784) of his first wife Mary Hinchcliffe's father, he is listed as a shalloon maker which is a fabric from Chalons in France and also described as a woollen blanket or coverlet for a bed.
