    "HOBSON Mrs Millicent Joyce. L.R.A.M., wife of John Edwards HOBSON, prominent sheep farmer, a descendant of William Carey HOBSON, one of the original 1820 Settlers and also of the Rev. John EDWARDS who was the first Wesleyan Minister appointed in Port Elizabeth, C.P. daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. C.F. KAYSER, a member of one of the best-known families of the Eastern Province, former member of the Union Parliament for Port Elizabeth for a period of seven years and Chairman of of the Chamber of Commerce and President of the Port Elizabeth Agricultural Society. For close on half a century this family has been closely linked with the history and growth of Port Elizabeth, recognition of their ungrudging service having been made by the naming of the tug " C.F. Kayser" in P.E. Harbour, as well as the "HOBSON Bell" in the 1820 Settlers' Memorial Carillion; there is also a C.F. KAYSER Memorial Prize competed for annually at the Girls' Collegiate School P.E. Born at Port Elizabeth and educated at the Girls Collegiate School; went to london in 1914; studied elocution, gaining her L.R.A.M. degree and during the Graet War served as a V.A.D. and in the South African Buffet, 39 Grosvenor Place, London; on return to South Africa organised and performed at numerous public concerts given in aid of different war funds. Has two sons, John Edwards and Nigel Kayser, one daughter, Mervynne. Is keenly interested in general chritable and social welfare work. Favourite recreations are tennis and bridge. Is a member of the Port Elizabeth Women's Club and the Hatfield Tennis Club. Her address is Westondale," Pearston, C.P "
