    Notes:

    Came out in ship 'Belle Alliance' in 1820. Her father said to have been secretary to Lord Mansfield.During the "No Popery" riots in London, Henry Lloyd saved some very valuable papers belonging to Lord Mansfield and was rewarded with the hand of Alicia Packenham (his niece) and an annuity of 500 pounds.

    Henry was appointed as Governor of the Azores and had his residence on the Island of Pont del Garda and Francisca Lloyd was born there. Sir Francis Hickman and his daughter were staying when the baby was born and Hickman's daughter sponsored the baby. She was named Francisca after Sir Francis. As the Hickmans were Catholic she was baptised into that faith.
    When she died she was the last survivor of the 1820 settlers in PE

    "He is mentioned as a harness maker, but I know he prior to coming to South Africa was an orange merchant, and the details of his life and past kindly researched for my by William Jervois. He was well educated and could read and write Greek and Hebrew. He had connections with Lord Packenham and Lord Mansfield both present at the christening of Francesca Hanna, Catharine Mary, in San Mugual Azores. Lord Mansfield married to Emily de Visme, daughter of Gerrard de Visme who owned plantations and land in the Azores. Legend has it that Henry acted for a short as a while as Governor in the Azores could find no documentation to that effect." - Isabelle Krauss
