Notes: James 'Jennens' grew up near Grahamstown & in 1837 married Sarah Saunders. They had a large family. They trekked to the Transvaal in 1866, settling on the farm 'Blaauwbank' north of Krugersdorp. He was a famous hunter, who ventured into Matabeleland as far as the Zambesi valley in search of ivory. Notes: James Jennings fell ill whilst waiting for their ship and was taken to the Portsmouth Naval Hospital where he died. His wife and 3 children sailed on the "Weymouth" on 7 Jan 1820 and arrived at Algoa bay on 15 May 1820. (This story does tie up with another. It is not certain whether there was one child or whether there were three boys.) I think that his fathers name was also James.
