Emily Beeton BEST married Glendower DONOVAN a farmer. They lived for many years on the farm Glendonough near Luiperdsvlei. Their son, Donough, was a brilliant student who qualified as a mining engineer and as quiet a young man controlled a group of mines in Ghana. A prey to bouts of malaria he returned to South Africa, and after attending a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Club in Johannesburg in 1924, dropped dead on the stairs as he was leaving the building. He was 39 years old.
Emily's daughter, Yvonne worked for some time 20 years as a lady almoner of the Johannesburg Hospital. Her duties of medical social worker attached to the hospital were arduous, but she carried them out with remarkable success and was most popular with patients and medical staff alike. She inherited Glendonough Farm, but after her retirement and the death of her mother, sold the property to a land development company and a township was laid out on the site.

    Notes:

Joseph Donovan, a taxidermist, came out with his wife, 2 children and 2 stepchildren on La Belle Alliance in Willson's party.
from the book "They came from a far land":
"Joseph Donovan came to South Africa with the 1820 Settlers. Joseph appears to have been admired by the men and was a good talker and a man of the world. His wife had two children from her previous marriage, namely Susannah and Thomas. Joseph was very hard and sometimes quite cruel to these two children. When Susannah was fourteen he began to plan her marriage to one of his friends. He went away on a trip and on his return discovered Susannah had married George Wood. He was not pleased but in later years he and George became close friends and he often stopped by their shop in Bathurst Street to smoke a pipe with George. He went to India with his family to claim an inheritance which unfortunately had been frittered away and already dispersed. Joseph managed to find a job in India where he decided to stay. About two or three years later George Wood was smoking in his kitchen and staring at the chair where Joseph used to sit when smoking with him. He suddenly saw Joseph sitting in the chair. He looked exactly as he had done when George last saw him, but he was leaning forward staring straight into the young man's eyes. The he disappeared. George put down his pipe and went at once to Susan. "Your stepfather is dead", he told her, and jotted down the day and hour. He was right; in time news came that Donovan had died that evening. His widow sailed from India for the Cape with her family, but she died on the voyage and was buried at sea. The sons farmed in Albany; the girls lived for a while with Susan, but it was not a happy arrangement, and did not last long. Eventually they married."
    and.....
"Susannah Garbett (8) and Thomas Garbett (7) were the step children of Joseph Donovan a Taxidermist who had married their mother Susannah Garbett. They came to South Africa along with their two step brothers William (4) and George (2) as part of the 1820 Settler scheme in Thomas Willson's Party aboard the 'La Belle Alliance' which left Downs on the 12th February 1820 and arrived in Cape Town on the 2nd May 1820. The ship sailed from Simons Bay on the 5th May reaching Algoa Bay at the end of May. There was tremendous disagreement with his leadership and Sir Rufane Donkin was presented with a petition from the 100 families who travelled with Willson. They were then settled on the Bush River, a tributary of the Torrens.
However, Thomas Willson abandoned his party and fled to Algoa Bay and then retreated to Cape Town. Lynne Bryer in her book on the 1820 Settlers says that Thomas Willson returned to England. The Rev William Boardman then took on the responsibility of this very large party of Settlers. The name Beaufort Vale was eventually given to the land where these Settlers were located.

A Permit to Remain in the colony was issued 8 October 1824 - see https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9BY-69S1-9?i=866
