Notes |
- A Natal settler named Duffy, whose Christian name is variously given as George, John or Richard, survived the battle of Ndondakusuka in 1838 but was subsequently killed by Bushmen near the Umzimvubu River. He has been identified by E.Morse Jones as George, third son of John Duffy of Bailie's party, but this has not been satisfactorily established. Information on the Natal settler from Mrs S.Spencer; Jones, Roll of the British Settlers, p.110.
unmarried.
He was also involved with Dick Kick's travels to Natal and is honoured at the Old Fort in Durban.
