Notes |
- Embarkation record says John Guest, Mason aged 35 and Ann his wife aged 40; John aged 9 and William aged 7
Arrival record says Edward Guest 34. Mason. w Ann 40. c John 8.
By 1827 the family had moved to Somerset East. In that year the Govt Agent took over a house and erf No 56 in that town to be sold to recover money to pay debts. (Cape of Good Hope Gazette, 14 July 1827).
In 1841 Edward Guest presented a memorial for a grant of a piece of land in Port Elizabeth. (KAB LG 553 02 739:1841). The family presumably settled there.
