  John was 'murdered' on 19 September 1818 by Robert Bamford and Adam Adie, both of whom were executed on 22 March 1822 at Newgate prison, after Thomas and Elizabetn had left for South Africa. Reference: HO 17/9/18 Description: Letter from Mr Enfield, town clerk to Lord Sidmouth enclosing confession of Robert Bamford from Nottingham, a convict in Nottingham Gaol for the robbery and murder of John Timm on 19 September 1818. Confession by Robert Bamford taken on 20 August 1821 before Dr Charles Wylde, one of the county magistrates in the county gaol. In his confession he names his accomplices Adam Adie and William Knight. Alderman Barber, magistrate, told Bamford that his confession would not save him. Initial sentence: transportation. AK 18.
