His wife died November 15, 1792. During her illness she received the constant attention of her son James and daughters Elizabeth and Margaret. A suitable monument was erected over their remains by direction of their son Robert, who having emigrated to America in 1784 was residing in Alexandria, Virginia at the time of his parents death. William Brocket was born about the year 1720. Married about 1746. Resided at Netherfauld House, his farm, near the city of Lanark, Scotland, which contained about 50 acres of land purchased from Earl Douglas. The departure of their son John to America in 1795 without his announcing his purpose caused his parents much concern. William died at 4:30 P.M. A few years subsequent to William's death, Andrew and James improved the Netherfauld House property by the erection of a new dwelling thereon. This farm remained property of the family until Wednesday, April 12, 1871, when it was sold at Public Auction at Faculty Hall at Georges Place, Glasgow, by a Mr. ? for 1700 lbs. sterling. The heirs of William's son Andrew, the Ritchies of Edinburgh, claimed ownership of this property but it is believed it's rightful owner is Robert Longden Brockett, son of Robert 2nd, who was the oldest son of Robert, the latter being the oldest son and heir at the death of William, his father.
