• Notes

  Travelled from Eastern Cape with the Voortrekkers at the end of 1837. He and his family originally settled on the farm "Broughton on the Umgeni River at Albert Falls, and later moved to the area between York and Reitvlei. His children married into Voortrekker families such as Martens, Uys, Van Niekerks, Van Jaarsveld and Muller.
