  He went to school in Queenstown and Sea Point and then did a BSc (Survey) at the University of Cape Town. He then surveyed Southern Rhodesia for two years. Went on a scooter tour of Europe in 1957. Learned Computer Programming at I.C.T., Salisbury. Worked on the Mufulira Copper mines where daughter Thelma was born. Moved to London for 1 year and then returned to South Africa to work for Trigsurvey in South West Africa. He lived in Clanwilliam and at Camphill near Malmesbury and latterly in Grahamstown where he managed African Musical Institute. He went to school in Queenstown and Sea Point. Learned computer programming at I.C.T. Salisbury. Worked on the Mufulira Copper Mines where Thelma was born. Moved to London for 1 year then returned to SA to work for Trigsurvey in S.W.A.
