John Wedderburn Dunbar MOODIE b 7 Oct 1797 d 22 Oct 1869 m Susanna STRICKLAND on 4 Apr 1832 at St Agnes Church.
"At his home John met his future wife, Susanna STRICKLAND, sister of the historian Agnes STRICKLAND, and herself a writer."

But there is also this reference.
MOODIE, JOHN 1797 - 1869. A son of Capt. James Moodie, he was a Lt, 21st Regiment and sailed in 1820 for the colony. He settled in Fredericksburg in 1821. He completed his book, "Ten Years in South Africa" in 1829 and left in that year for Canada. In 1832 he was married to Agnes Strickland and served as Major in the Rebellion of 1837 in Canada. He died @ Belleville, Ontario (The Roll of The British Settlers in South Africa)
