  Egerton was born in Grahamstown and educated at St Andrew's College. Lived at Egerton was born in Grahamstown and educated at St Andrew's College. Lived at Egerton near Fish River Station, Cradock until 1913. Moved to Glen Cliff with his Dad and farmed there from 1925 - 1970. Zilla was born in Adelaid. Egerton and Zilla have retired to live in Bedford. Egerton is a keen conservationist and is deeply concerned about the deterioration of the veld on S.A. farms.
