Elisha Lee was born on 5 Jul 1810 in Westminster, London, England, was christened on 7 Oct 1810 in Saint Paul Covent Garden, Westminster, London, England, and died on 6 Oct 1846 in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa aged 36. The cause of his death was Inflammation of the Lungs.

I, the undersigned having purchased the premises with Stock and Trade of Mr. Joseph Trollip,wagon maker, near Dundas Bridge, begs to aquaint his friends and the public, and also the customers of his predecessor, that he has removed to said premises and will execute all orders with despatch. New wagons constantly on hand. Wagons, carts, &c. repaired to the best manner and at the shortest
notice.

Elisha, like Henry, died before his time, dying at the age of 35 on the 6th October 1846. Afterwards, Maria ran a small shop in New Street in order to provide for her young family.
His obituary reads:
" Died at Graham's Town, on Tuesday (6.10.1846) of Inflammation of the Lungs, after an illness of ten days only, Mr. Elisha Lee aged 35 years. Deceased came with his Parents to this Colony among the British Settlers of 1820 - He approved himself a Dutiful Son, an affectionate Husband and Father, and a trusty friend. He has left a wife and three children to deplore their severe bereavement."

At the time of John Henry LEE's birth in 1836 Elisha's occupation was that of wheelwright.

Elisha married Maria Louisa Webb [526] [MRIN: 224], daughter of John Webb [527] and Mary Ann Stewart [528], on 15 Apr 1835 in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Maria was born in Jan 1817 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England, was christened on 23 Feb 1817 in Great Stanmore, London England, and died on 28 Sep 1885 in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa aged 68. They had four children: John Henry, Angelina " Annie " Maria, Levinia and Edwin Elisha. [3]
