Other Information  According to the book, The 1820 Settlers of Salem, “She was a child of nine when she came out to South Africa on the S.S. Brilliant arriving in April 1820 in Erith's Surrey party with her uncle and aunt, Richard Isaac, aged 45 and Frances Gravett, age 35 Pickstock. Charlotte's father was killed at Waterloo when Charlotte was very young. He was a captain in Wellington's army. He also served in the Spanish wars. His coffin was bedecked with medals. His wife died soon afterwards and Charlotte was adopted by her uncle and aunt. “
