Other Information  Born in Norfolk, he was married to Ann Hart.
He was one of a small party that proposed to emigrate under the leadership of James Hoole, but was subsequently absorbed by Bailie's party.
He left the location after a year and rented a farm near Grahamstown, but after two crop failures he left Albany for Cape Town, where he died in 1824.
Mrs Ann Leader died in Cape Town in 1825, leaving four young children, Ann, James, Elizabeth and Frances, who were placed by the Board of Orphan Masters in foster homes in Cape Town.
