"Jonathan Newman of St Giles, Cripplegate, Draper, son of John Newman late of Aldgate, Baker, Deceased & Katherin Wright of New Fish Street, London, d. of Nathaniel Wright late of Guildford Gent Dec & Jane his wife, him surviving, proposed their intention of marriage .... the young man's mother being present gave her consent .... the maid produced a certificate of her mother's consent ... John Hodgkins and Thomas Zachary to make enquiry and make report to this meeting." The report showed that her uncle Edward Wright and her mother were present at the report back meeting as well as Jonathan's mother.
