  from a book entitled Reminiscences of Georgina Lister. " Mr Lister died in 1881 .......his father had been the Proctor of York diocese. His mother, Martha Storr belonged to an East Yorkshire Quaker family whose ancestors John and Marmaduke Storr, were converted by George Fox and suffered imprisonment in York castle for their religious beliefs. In 1844 Mr Lister bought in England from Captain Beverley, a farm near Uitenhage and came out to settle. He married Margaret a daughter of Captain Joseph Crowe. ....Mrs Lister's brother Colonel Joseph Crowe was a Victoria Cross recipient at (relief of Lucknow)
