- George Fleck Daniel was accidentally killed after being knocked out in a fight with heavyweight boxer Jimmy de Villiers.
He was then run over by a Military Policeman driving a vanette while he lay unconscious in Manica road in front of the Queens Hotel in Salisbury. His death was recorded as killed in action. He was given a military funeral. The National War Fund paid out!
