Notes |
- From THE STREET NAMES OF HAWORTH by Jennie Crawford. 'BUTT LANE: The original Butt Field was on the opposite side of Butt Lane to the park ( Ref.65, 1852 Tithe Award ), and in 1838 along with Acre, was owned by Hiram Craven and tenanted by Hiram Hartley'.
Described on census form as 'Woolcomber' but had taken over tenancy of farmland in 1838. From HAWORTH by Steven Wood. 'Almost half the farmers in Haworth at this time had a second occupation, most were woolcombers, hand-loom weavers or quarrymen'.
