Notes |
- He served in the Navy for 18 years, and was a pensioner of Greenwich Hospital. He applied in 1823 for a grant of land at the mouth of the Kowie River, and permission to cut timber to build and repair small craft; this was refused, but he was given a government post as car¬penter at the Kowie. He was granted a share of the party's location, which he advertised for sale in November 1833. He died in Grahamstown in 1834. His widow died in Grahams¬town in poverty in 1848.
