Notes |
- At Mary Jane's death in May 1936, she was still alive , and is recorded as a widow living in Bathurst street , Grahamstown. According to family anecdote , she was an alcoholic , and played havoc in her daughter ( Mary Jane's) life ! There seems to have been a rift in the family , as so little is known of her , including her date of death.
Apparently the Colemans were Irish , and farmed - both her parents died when she was quite young . She was taken in by a doctor living in Grahamstown where she worked as a maid.
