Notes |
- Thomas Taylor came to South Africa with the Moodie Settlement which preceded the 1820 Settlers and arrived at Swellendam approximately 1818. It is believed he was born in Scotland, Because the Moodie Settlement consisted of artisans recruited in Scotland. He owned several trading stores in the Swellendam area. His wife, Hanna(h) Parsley, was born in England. Her mother was a Miss Adams. After her mothers death, Hannah's father brought her to South Africa, where she resided with her grandfather, Mr Adams, at Mowbray. Mr Adams was connected with the wine industry.
