  Grahamstown Journal 1876 - 4 - October to December DIED on Saturday 3rd December 1876, at his residence, Cathcart Vale, near Eland’s Post, district of Stockenstrom, after a lingering and painful illness, which he bore with Christian fortitude, John COMLEY Senior, aged 57 years and 6 days, leaving a wife and family to mourn their irreparable loss.
