  Notes from Carol Forsberg 2010-05-09: Left Germany on religious grounds - was he Jewish? he had a trading store (wholesalers) amongst the Xhosas near Dordrecht. Estimate that he would only have come to South Africa in about 1855, as he was born in Germany; he married Annie Regina Wolff around 1859 and they had their first child in 1860. I have no idea why the family thinks he was buried in Grahamstown; perhaps this was the closest Jewish Cemetary to Dordrecht?
