Notes |
- John Patrick SHARPLEY was the father-in-law of Richard William CALVERLEY. He was born in 1821 in Ireland and before moving to Umtata he traded near Mqanduli. His eldest son, also John Patrick, who was a trader from Coffee Bay, was killed at the Battle of Pirie Bush in 1878 during the Ninth Frontier War.
