My Family Tree
A new and supported Windows based program, with updates, that has a lot of very good features, and is quite simple to use with a visual tree interface. Supports gedcom import and export
Personal Ancestral File (PAF)
The original free Family Search PC program which still works very well. Not supported anymore, but is bug free.
Brother's Keeper version 6
This is an old version of this very good family tree program. After installing it under Windows 10, I had to make a new folder on the C:\ drive and called it BK6, and then under that a folder called data, and under c:\BK6\data a folder to keep your tree. When it stats up the first time, change to path to this new folder to keep the databases.
Geno Pro version 2b13h
This is an old beta version of this very good family tree program with difference! The 'view' of the tree does take a bit of getting used to, but it is ok!
Res Privita
Standalone program to privatise a gedcom file. Very useful to run prior to giving a gedcom to someone else, or sending it up to a website.
Extended Character Map
This little program shows you all those characters that you may need to type, and the keystrokes you need!
Calisto Calendar
Calisto will display the English calendar for any year between AD100 and 2999. In addition the following may be seen:the dates for Easter and other moveable & fixed Christian feast days and English monarchs & their regnal year dates. It can also work out birth dates from death dates and ages. A must for any genealogist!
Gedxlate
Standalone utility that allows you convert any gedcom file to an Excel spreadsheet or Access database. Simple selections of the data by tick boxes, and then the output format
Gedcom Viewer
Little program that allows you to open any gedcom file and view the contents. You can also cut and paste into other programs
Ged Place
Standalone utility that allows you to edit the place names in any gedcom file
Genealogica Grafica
Brilliant Standalone utility that allows you to view errors in any gedcom file. ie duplicate people, people with more than one birth, baptism, marriage death record; dates that don't make sense, etc. I still use this today!
